Imphal, November 13 2009:
Four cadres, including a Lieutenant Colonel of the NSCN (IM) organisation, have been enlisted in the chargesheet prepared by the CBI in connection with the murder of Kasom Khullen SDO and two other sub-ordinate staff.
The investigation agency is informed to have submitted the chargesheet to the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Ukhrul on October 31 .
Those named as accused in the CBI chargesheet included the Naga rebel group's Lt Col Hopeson Ningshen, RI Yorhor alias Abo Shibo of Tuinem, SK Themhorsang alias Themshang alias Ashang of Apong village and Jonny.
Following strong public outcry in condemnation of the brutal murder of SDO Dr Thingnam Kishan and his two other sub-ordinate staff namely Y Token and A Rajen, Government of Manipur had handed over the case to the CBI.
Apart from SDO Dr Kishan, A Rajen and Y Token, cadres of the rebel group had also abducted Ramshing Shiro, Ramthing Shinglai and Kapangkhui Jajo from near Hundung Gate on February 13, this year before releasing the latter three two days later.
Mutilated corpses of Dr Kishan, Rajen and Token were recovered from a Senapati district area.
Mention may be made that Lt Col Hopeson has already been sent to Tihar jail while the three other accused persons have been absconding.
The Central investigation team is being headed by Superintendent of Police (CBI, Imphal Branch) Ganesh Verma as the investigating officer.
According to an informed source, the CBI chargesheet mentioned that after abduction all the six persons were kept as captives in Langdang village for three days followed by the release of Ramshing Shiro, Ramthing Shinglai and Kapangkhui Jajo at an Imphal area.
the other captives were then taken to Seikhor village on February 16 from where the trio were moved to Taphou Kuki village in Senapati district in the evening and mercilessly done to death, the source said.
It is also informed that the CBI sleuths recorded statements of 68 persons with the then Ukhrul district's Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Pal also among the witnesses.
On the otherhand, based on a complaint petition filed by the father of the murdered SDO in the same court (CJM, Ukhrul) naming the Ukhrul DC PK Pal as an accused person in the murder case, the Court has reportedly directed Ukhrul police to submit report of progress, if any, of the investigation on November 16 .
