Imphal, April 11 2009:
In connection with the observance of 'Athoubasinggi Numit' on April 13 in remembrance of top PLA leaders and cadres who were slain in a fierce encounter with security force personnel at Kodompokpi, the proscribed Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) has called upon the people to join in paying tribute.
In a statement issued by the outfit's secretary (publicity) T Leishemba, the RPF opined that revolutionary movement for emancipation of the people from adversary forces is a continuous process wherein setbacks are part of the game.
However, in pursuit of the chosen path such a setback should not discourage the citizens as failure had been the stepping stone towards successfully scaling the summit of any set target, the secretary exhorted while recalling steely determination and valiant struggle of the martyrs to drive home the point that with valour and commitment defeating adversary forces is imminent.
Highlighting supreme sacrifices made by the fore-fathers, the RPF asserted that till the cherished goal is attained waging war against the adversaries is a task which the organisation would not relent from.
Moreover, Leishemba cited armed conflicts in Chechyna, Palestine, Iraq, Sri lanka, and jammu and Kashmir to remind the people that inspite of loss of valuable lives in these battles the fact that there is no end to the people's movement reaffirm that in Manipur too sacrifices will be made till the goal is achieved.
Slamming security forces, particularly police commandos for allegedly committing atrocities upon the civilian population at the behest of New Delhi, he said no locality in Manipur is spared from onslaught of security forces despite the fact that people are guaranteed right to life by indian Constitution.
RPf also condemned Govt of india for diluting the revolutionary movement with the terrorist tag to armed organisations who had been fighting for the cause of the manipuri people in order to restore the lost sovereignty.
Reiterating appeal to every section of the society to join in offering floral tribute to the PLA members slain in the Kodompokpi skirmish, Leishemba also urged all concerned to refrain from organising or participating in entertainment activities in honour of the martyrs.
