Ten persons have been allegedly given appointment in the Mayang Imphal Municipal Council in violation of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Government of India and Government of Manipur in view of the acute financial/condition of the State.
The ten employees are Executive Officer N Anita, Revenue Officer Ksh Gyanendra, Section Officer Ch Khelen, UDC/Head Clerk L Kerani, Sanitary Inspector N Somila, LDCs Kh Memthoi and Muhammad Hussein, Road Mohori N Lenin, Grade-4 A Biren and Md Shalauddin.
All of them have been appointed by an order of 'the Chairperson of the Municipal Council, Md Safiullah on November 18, 2002.Disclosing this detailed information to the media persons at the office of the MPP, party president O Joy and the party Legislature leader Dr Nimaichand Luwang strongly contended that the appointment have been made in violation of not only the MoU signed, but also the Rules and Act of the Council.
They also demanded that the appointment should be cancelled and declared void at once.
They informed that the said ten persons have been appointment by an Administrative Committee prior to the formation of the Council.
However, after the Council came the appointment order had been cancelled in the Court, but it was revoked again on September 10, 2000 without taking any major decision on the appointment issue.
Vigilance Cell of the MPP has been investigating into the case and it has been confirmed that the appointment order of the said ten persons have .been cancelled on February 14 as per the directive of the MUHUD Director.
Moreover, the former chair-person Md Safiullah forged the signatures of the councillors and applied to the Court for the withdrawal of the case, they alleged.
They further informed that special meeting of the Mayang Imphal Municipal Council was convened on December 26 last in this connection and unanimously resolved to take up legal action against those involved in forging the signatures of the officials concerned.
Minister refutes: Minister of State Education (S) Dr Md Manirrudin Sheikh has strongly refuted the claim that either he or any of his family members had asked for money for appointment of project officers for the centrally sponsored of SSA schemes.
He also denied media reports that Excise Inspector Md Nasir Ahamad is his (Ministers) PSO/PSO.
