Imphal, October 09:
To protest the detention of Irom Chanu Sharmila at AIIMS and the force feeding she is being subjected to, the Working Committee of the Apunba Lup and the members of Manipur Students' Association, Delhi continued with the sit-in-protest at Jantar Mantar today too.
Informing this, the Working Committee of the Apunba Lup in a statement said that the Union Home Ministry sent its delegates to meet Sharmila today while former Union Minister and All India BJP Secretary Bijoy Goyal and one Mr Raj from the Home Ministry also visited her.
Though the authority of AIIMS has discharged her, she is still being kept at the hospital as Delhi police have imposed certain restrictions, said the Apunba Lup.
Questioning the action of the Government, the Apunba Lup countered why Sharmila should not be granted the rights assured by a democracy like staying where she wants to and going where she wants to go.
Apunba Lup also reminded all that the protest launched by Sharmila is a peaceful one which is in sync with Gandhism.
Her protest is to ensure the rights of the people, it added.
To repeal AFSPA and to resolve the agitation of Sharmila, Apunba Lup and MSAD will stage a public rally on October 11 at Delhi, said the statement and added that it will start from 10 am at ITO.
Intensive campaign has been launched to ensure the participation of different human rights organisations said the statement.
Apunba Lup also condemned the bomb attack at Babina Clinic.
