New Delhi, June 25 2011:
A five member delegate of International Manipuri Mothers' Association (IMMA) arrived here on June 10 after a long tour of the seven north east states to seek an appointment with the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and demand for repeal of the AFSPA.
Addressing the media in Delhi, today morning, IMMA president Khumanleima said that this is the third time they have come to the capital to meet the Prime Minister.
Still waiting for the appointment with the PM, the IMMA president said they will wait for some more time of about 10 days.
On the question of what will be the next move if the PM would not meet them, the president informed that a protest or demonstration will be carried out in the national capital.
Even then if the Prime Minister is not willing to listen "we will act without talking" she said.
Women are at the receiving end of the continued repression by the security forces in Manipur.
Of late even the Meira Paibis, who stand vigil in the night; waiting for their husbands/sons to return home are no longer in a position to do so.
This are the recent ones among the numerous list of atrocities committed to women and the general public in Manipur, she maintained and demanded "the Act must go" .

On the question of the rationale behind the implementation of AFSPA by the GOI was due to the presence of 'non state' the law and order situation and that Manipur is in conflict, Khumanleima said "it is the GOI that creates conflict," .
Memorandum for repeal of AFSPA by the IMMA and their grievance would be put before the PM, said other IMMA delegates.
They will demand for confirmation of the date to repeal the AFSPA.
Otherwise, "we will not go back " they asserted.
