GOC 57 Mountain Division Major General Shakti Gurung, VSM, IGAR (South) Major General AK Choudhary, AVSM, SM, VSM as well as all ranks of Assam Rifles have extended greetings to the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of Ningol Chaouba festival which is being celebrated tomorrow.
In his message to the people, Major General Shakti Gurung hoped that the festival would enhance the spirit of unity, brotherhood among the people of Manipur.
''Let the festival usher a new era of reconciliation, peace and harmony in Manipur'', Gen Gurung said.
On the other hand, IGAR (S) Major General AK Choudhary and all ranks of Assam Rifles have extended warm greetings and sincere goodwill to all the Manipuris on the occasion of Ningol Chakkouba.
The IGAR (S) also hoped that the festival would herald a new era of peace, progress and prosperity in the region and enhance the spirit of unity, cohesiveness and brotherhood amongst the people of the State.
Meanwhile, on behalf of IGAR (S), Commandant of 34 Assam Rifles reportedly distributed umbrellas to Meira Paibis of Thoubal district in connection with Ningol Chaouba festival at the battalion headquarters, Thoubal today.

According to a statement issued by PRO Assam Rifles, the meeting was attended by a large number of Meira Paibis of Thoubal district.
Commandant of 34 Assam Rifles Col SS Kartikeya, Mrs Priya Kartikeya and all the officers of 34 Assam Rifles interacted with the Meira Paibis and greeted them on the festive occasion of Diwali and Ningol Chakkouba, the PRO said, adding that the meeting further helped to strengthen the cordial relations between the Assam Rifles and the Meira Paibis of Thoubal.
