With MDS funding mini-stadium graces MI

Imphal, June 15 2009: A mini stadium cum community hall constructed newly at Mayang Imphal Konchak with funding from Manipur Development Society (MDS) and Local Area Development Fund of MLA of Mayang Imphal A/C Dr Kh Ratankumar has been inaugurated by Works Minister K Ranjit Singh today.

Speaking as chief guest of the inaugural function of Khuman Mini-Stadium cum Community Hall, Ranjit observed that there can be peace in the society only when there is development and Armed Forces Special Powers Act will be lifted automatically if there is peace.

Highlighting the developmental works being taken up by the present SPF Government to ensure equal development in both the hills and the valley, Ranjit asserted that the SPF Government has completed the projects for which the foundations had been laid during the time of United Front Government.

Further he informed that gathering that the Government has sanctioned a sum of Rs 16 lakhs for the development of the road stretch from Mayang Imphal to Wabagai Lamkhai and proposal has been made for reconstruction of the road from Moirang Lamkhai to Kumbi under NLCPR.

Government would also compensate those who would be affected by the expansion of Mayai Lambi, he assured, while seeking the co-operation of the people in ensuring completion of the road expansion work in time.

Presiding over the function, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister N Biren informed that the Government would be providing incentive award to Suranjoy of Uchiwa who won gold medal in the Asian Boxing Championship.

The State Government would also be organising a grand reception function in this honour, he added.

MLA Dr Kh Ratankumar, who was also present and spoke at the occasion, noted that inauguration of a mini-stadium cum community hall would funfil one of the long cherish dreams of the people of Mayang Imphal area.

Chairman of Manipur Pollution Control Board MLA E Dwijamani, MLA of Moirang A/C M Prithiviraj and Congress candidate from Thangmeiband A/C Jotin were also among those who attended the function.

During the function, the chief guest of the function had also felicitated Khumujam Kiran s/o Deben of Mayang Imphal Konchak Mayai Leikai who secured 10th position in the class X examination conducted by the Nagaland Board.
