Reiterating its decision of going ahead with a 24-hour State wide bandh with effect from July 16 midnight to July 17 midnight if the Government or Dr Sukumar does not consider its demands, the JAC Against Several Deaths Due to the negligence of Dr Sukumar has categorically stated that it would flout all democratic norms and take recourse to violent agitation if the demands are not considered even after the imposition of the bandh.
Continuing with its protest demonstration demanding the Government to take action against Dr Sukumar and exerting pressure on Dr Sukumar to seek voluntary retirement from medical profession for life, the JAC organised a Wakat Meepham at Wangbal Bazar today.
Talking to mediapersons at the occasion, JAC convenor N Dhanaprakash asserted that voluntary retirement of Dr Sukumar from medical profession is essential to save the life of many women during child birth.
In case the demands are not met within the set deadline of July 15, the JAC would be constraint to go ahead with its earlier of calling a State wide bandh with effect from midnight of July 16 to midnight of July 17, he announced.
Even after calling the bandh, if the Government does not consider the demands of the JAC or Dr Sukumar does not voluntarily seek retirement from medical profession for life, then the JAC would have no option but to take recourse to various undemocratic and violent form of agitations until the demands are met, the JAC convenor stated categorically.
Family members of Arunkumari of Wangbal Mayai Leikai, who was one of the alleged victims of negligence of Dr Sukumar, were also among those who participated in the protest demonstration.
According to them, Arunkumari died due to the alleged negligence of Dr Sukumar.
After the operation performed by Dr Sukumar, Arunkumari had haemorrhage.
But instead of taking care of her, Dr Sukumar went ahead with performing operation on another patient.
Such negligence attitude of Dr Sukumar is responsible for the death of many women during child birth, they said.
