Bishnupur commandos net 3 killer accused

Imphal, April 09 2011: Three hardcore activists of the KCP-MC (Nongdrenkhomba/Taibangnganba) group including two accused in killing a private security guard of mobile phone service provider have been apprehended by Bishnupur police commandos.

Parading the apprehended UG cadres before media persons at Bishnupur police headquarters this afternoon, SP Konsam Jayenta said that the three hardcore KCP-MC activists were apprehended during search operations conducted at different places of Bishnupur district from March 17 till April 8 .

He identified the arrested persons as Angom Ibochouba alias Lanchaiba alias Punsiba (32) s/o Ibomcha alias Bocha, his younger brother Angom Tomba alias Nongdamba alias Pamheiba alias Inaoton (25) of Moirang Khoibu Leikai and Angom ningol Khundrakpam ongbi Ibemcha Devi (37) w/o Radhamohon of Ningthoukhong Radhamandop Ward No 9 .

Ibemcha Devi and Tomba alias Nongdamba were involved in the abduction of Khundrakpam Thoiba of Nachou Kha Leikai.

Thoiba who worked as a security supervisor for Aircel company was found dead at Naransena Maning Leikai on February 10 .

It has also been learnt that Tomba alias Nongdamba and one Moirangthem Boboi (30) of Kumbi Bazar bludgeoned Thoiba to death using a concrete rock, said Jayenta.

Notably, Moirangthem Boboi working as supervisor for private security agency BCL which provides security service to Aircel and other mobile phone service providers went missing on February 11 .

As the same KCP-MC group claimed that they holding Boboi hostage, Kumbi people launched protest demonstrations.

The reality was otherwise.

The episode of Boboi's abduction was staged deliberately as he was frightened about the consequences that would befall upon for his involvement in the murder of Thoiba.

The whole episode was exposed to the public after Boboi was apprehended by Bishnupur Police, Jayenta stated.

Boboi is currently under judicial custody.

Boboi and Tomba tried to kill Thoiba by using a Mauser pistol but they had to kill Thoiba by smashing his head with a concrete stone in the most barbaric manner as one of the bullets got stuck in the pistol's chamber.

Ibochouba alias Lanchaiba and Ibemcha Devi were nabbed on March 17 when they came to abduct DRDA Bishnupur Assistant Project Officer Ningthoujam Jayenta.

They also planned for abduction another project officer Nimai and two staff, disclosed the SP.

The three arrested cadres admitted that they were engaged in abduction of people for ransom under instructions of the group's two commanders, Ningthoujam Romen alias Nongdrenkhomba alias RK (32) s/o Ibotomba of Kumbi Thingel Leikai and Haobijam Dillip alias Dingku alias Taibangnganba (40) s/o late Kunjababu of Bishnupur Mamang Leikai Ward No 11 .

SP Jayenta went on to claim that the two leaders have been staying in Nepal.

Ibochouba alias Lanchaiba told media persons that he surrendered to Hqs IG AR (S) under the guidance of 39 Assam Rifles as a cadre of KCP-MC (Lamyanba Khuman group) along with arms in June last year.

Saying that the arrested UG activists used a Mauser pistol at the time of killing Thoiba though it failed to work, SP Jayenta said that police have been searching for the pistol.
