Imphal, March 05 2012:
Two cadres of PREPAK (Pro) who were reportedly involved in a bomb attack at the quarters of RIMS Superintendent have been arrested by Lampel Police along with two hand grenades.
Parading the arrested UG cadres together with the grenades seized from them before media persons this evening, Lamphel SDPO H Balram said police personnel were instructed to keep strict vigil on hearing a loud blast near RIMS campus at about 10.30 pm yesterday.
Police personnel who were on duty near Imphal West DC office complex halted and checked a Maruti car at about 10.40 pm.
The cops were keeping a watch over the vote counting hall there.
At first, the two persons travelling in the car said that they were coming to pick up a blood donor from Langol for a patient who was reportedly undergoing treatment at RIMS.

But on seeing one punctured tyre in the front and a broken glass pane, the police personnel sensed something unnatural and they brought the two persons to Lamphel police station.
On questioning at the police station, the two individuals disclosed that the blast sound heard about ten minutes back was that of a grenade explosion at RIMS Superintendent Dr Shantikumar's quarters and that the grenade was lobbed by them.
The two individuals have been identified as Okram Subhash alias Bothoi (27) of Keishampat Kangabam Leikai but staying at Langol Housing complex and Ayekpam Winny of Uripok Tourangbam Leikai.
Subhash was working as a salesman in a mobile repairing shop inside Lamphel DC office complex whereas Winny is Member of Imphal Municipal Council Ward No 4 .
Both of them were working under one James of PREPAK (Pro), said the SDPO as disclosed by the duo.
The grenade hurled at the Medical Superintendent's quarters last night was one out of the three hand grenades handed over to Winny by James in front of a shop at Uripok on February 29 .
As they further disclosed that the two remaining hand grenades were being concealed in a house at Langol without knowledge of the owner, police have recovered the hand grenades this morning, Balram added.
