The polling personnel and material related to 117 polling stations located in remote areas where there are no proper transport facilities are set to be airlifted in connection with the conduct of the election to the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency on April 16 .
According to sources from the State Election Department, out of the total 1,223 polling stations to be set up for the election in the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency, the polling personnel and the material of 117 designated polling stations would be airlifted in four aircrafts from 17 helipads.
Of the 117 designated polling stations, 10 are located in Chandel district, 67 in Churachandpur district, 18 in Ukhrul district, 8 in Senapati district and the remaining 14 polling stations in Tamenglong district.
As for the polling stations in Tipaimukh and Vangai Range, the polling personnel and the materials would be transported by 12 boats, sources disclosed.
On the other hand, 18 more companies of BSF personnel who would be deployed in connection with the election arrived at Imphal yesterday.
Twenty companies of CRPF and BSF personnel have already arrived at Imphal on March 23 .
