MEELAL today said that one school at Kongba Kshetri Leikai called Madanmohon Primary School was found teaching Meetei Mayek only from Class-I to III even as state government has recommended teaching of the same from Class-I to V .
Speaking at a press conference held today MEELAL Education Secretary RK Jiten said volunteers of the body who visited the school on having information that students are not teaching Meetei Mayek violating government order.
When asked to the headmistress of the school, she said that she had joined the school only on March 17 this year.
She had requested the concern ZEO to switch on teaching Meetei Mayek to the students.
But ZEO said to start teaching it after the board supplies the text books.
DI in the office of the ZEO, Imphal east Mema informed that teaching Meetei Mayek have been teaching to those schools who had the text books but replaced other by the Bengali text books to those who are not yet getting the books.
That was why the students of Class-IV and V of this school are not teaching Meetei Mayek.
In this regards, MEELAL has expressed dissatisfied with the authorities neglected attitudes towards switching teaching of Meetei Mayek to the students.
On the other hand, the competition on the use of Meeteilon wards on the occasion of the foundation day of Kanglei Khorjeikhol on April 26 which earlier announced for only in Meetei Mayek has been reviewed and now those written with Bengali will also be allowed to take part in the competition.
