Imphal, November 12 2009:
A havildar of Assam Rifle posting in Tamenglong district found dead in his bed yesterday even as police retrieved a dead body near a culvert at Langathel Chinga Leikai in Thoubal district today in other unrelated incident.
The AR havildar identified as Ganesh Bahadur Tamang (49), a resident of Bhatapur village of West Bengal's Jalpaiguri district was found dead in his bed at the 11 Assam Rifles post at Tamenglong district headquarters.
Police quoting AR statement regarding the death of the personnel said that Ganesh was a personnel who was not utilized in discharging heavy duty as he belongs to low medical category group which restricted from assigning heavy duty as per rule.
Before his death, Ganesh complaint of his unwell health and willingness to attain a medical attention after which he went to bed for sleeping.
Later on the next day he was found dead.
In another unrelated incident a 16-year old boy was found dead near a culvert on the road at Langathel Chinga Leikai.
The boy identified as Laishram Rajendra son of L Ibomcha died after falling into a ditch nearby the culvert, police report said.
