Thoudam Brajabidhu and Manibabu Likmabam's Basanta Khel has been awarded the best entry in the Dance category for the 9th Doordarshan Annual Awards 2009 .
The Award will be presented during Doordarshan Annual Awards Ceremony 2009 to be held at Hyderabad on November 30 .
Basanta Khel is a dance item based on the eternal Prem Leela of Radha-Krishna played at Brindavan along with the Gopis.
The dance is aptly supported by the vibrant rhythm of Dhol-Dhulok and music based on Nat Sankirtana.
The dance item is performed by the Guru Angou and Ibotombi Memorial Meitei Pung Arts Centre Imphal and shot extensive at DDK Imphal campus.
Thoudam Brajabidhu is presently working with Doordarshan Kendra Imphal as a Production Assistant and he is a five time DD Award winner in various capacities.
His documentary film on Sangai, Deer of the floating Park was nominated for recently concluded CMS Vatavaran Film Festival held at Delhi .
Manibabau Likmabam is also working with DDK Imphal as Programme Executive and he is also two time DD Award winner.
He also jointly received the 54th National Film Awards 2006 with Aribam Shyam Sharma in 2008 for a documentary film under Commission category.
Till now Doordarshan Kendra Imphal has bagged eight National Awards in different categories of programme productions.
It may be mentioned here that, in spite of prevailing law and order situation and meagre fund allocation for programme productions, these achievements are big rewards for the staffs of Doordarshan Kendra Imphal, in particular and for North East Region in general.
