Imphal, November 05 2010: The Christian Grammar School Tamenglong today celebrated its 20th Anniversary day with Khangthuanang Panmei, Vice Chairman Hill Areas Committee, Manipur Legislative Assembly and Rev..RKhanglen Secretary, Committee on People's Affairs, Tamenglong District as chief guest and president of the function respectively.

During the celebration, Khangthuanang Panmei, Vice Chairman HAC released the school magazine.

Speaking on the occasion he encouraged the students and the teachers and urged the students to behave as true students, and to have an ambition to be achieved.

Work hard for there is no shortcut to success, he said.

The CGS Tamenglong gave out awards to the outstanding teachers and students through the chief guest.

Rev.R Khanglen also spoke on the occasion encouragingthe students and teachers.

In the meantime, the 11 Assam Rifles in a significant way organized a Diwali festival for the locals of Tamenglong at Apollo ground with a fire cracker show and a cultural programme around 6 pm today where thousands of people witnessed the show.

The program started with the lighting of a lamp by Col PS Chhonkar, SM, Commandant, 11 AR and Mrs Col PS Chhonkar.

During the show the students of a music camp and hindi students presented songs and skits to entertain the gathering.

The town was also lighted and cracker shows took place in the heart of Tamenglong town.

There were no reports of any untoward incidents.
