In continuation with stepped up operations against extortion by underground groups in and around Dimapur, the combined forces of Assam Rifles and 164 Bn TA (Naga) managed to nab an NSCN-K cadre with a small arm and live rounds in Dimapur today.
According to PRO IGAR (North), Major Pallab Choudhury based on reliable inputs about some planned move of armed cadres to Dimapur for carrying out extortion activities, columns of 164 Bn TA (Naga) and 24 Assam Rifles were activated and MVCPs placed at all entry points including villages at periphery of Dimapur town.
It led to interception of a suspiciously moving jeep without registration number at Old Shaoba village and on being searched one NSCN-K cadre was nabbed along with a pistol and live rounds.
The apprehended cadre was handed over to Dimapur East Police Station.
Meanwhile, the Assam Rifles has appealed to factions to adhere by agreed cease fire ground rules with the government of India and desist any kind of armed movement outside the designated camps which will invite stringent action by security forces in the interest of peace and security.
