The 2nd State Specidfic Harm Reduction Meet, 2009 was held yesterday under the aegis of North East India Harm Reduction Network (NEIHRN) at the Conference Hall of Social Awareness Service Organisation (SASO), Imphal, a release issued by NEIHRN secretary, Namaram Kishalaya (Dodo) informed.
The meeting was organised as part of measures in 'strengthening the network' in the region and to address the issues concerning the lives of people living and suffering from incurable diseases.
A minute silence was observed in paying tribute to the departed souls of NEIHRN founding members.
The meet decided to address the current 'crisis situation' of the state to the United Nations Regional Task Force and invite the Response Team to visit the state and witness the overall state of affairs first hand.
Altogether, 20 participants from different districts of Manipur and representatives of various institutions and individuals attended the meet.
The first state specific harm reduction meet for Nagaland was held on October 23 in Dimapur.
NEIHRN has 40 members from across the eight NE states of India a 17-board member, it added.
