A Foreign Investment Board (FIB) for construction of a ring road that would connect all hill districts with investment of Rs 1000 crores from Japanese Government has been constituted with the Chief Secretary as Chairman today.
An official meeting of the FIB held this morning with the Chief Secretary in the chair deliberated on Works Department's proposal for the ring road.
The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary (Planning) and relevant officials of Works and Finance Departments.
Formal proposal for the mega project which would be taken up under the sponsorship of Japanese International Corporation Agency would be submitted once the project is given clearance by the Department of Economic Affairs.
If the agency approves the project, it would be sending one of its representatives to conduct a field assessment.
After this, a consultant will be appointed to prepare a detailed project report, conveyed an official
source.
The FIB meeting held today also discussed a project on containing climate change that would be taken up by the Environment and Ecology Wing under the sponsorship of German Development Bank at an estimated cost of Rs 85 crores.
Officials of Forest Department and Additional Chief Secretary (Planning) DS Poonia made a detail presentation during a meeting with officials of DoNER Ministry which was also attended by representatives of German Development Bank on May 14.German Development Bank would be sending a team to Manipur to conduct a field survey for the proposed project.
Today's meeting also studied the Sericulture Project taken up with financial assistance from Japanese Government as well as the Sewerage Project being implemented with technical support from the Government of France, added the source.
