Chief Election Commissioner of Election Commission of India N Gopala Swami will be arriving at Imphal on October 18 in connection with 9th Manipur Legislative Assembly scheduled to be held sometime in February next year.
While at Imphal, the Chief Election Commissioner will convene a joint meeting of Chief Secretary, DGP, DCs and SPs to discuss the law and order situation and other necessary arrangements to be made to ensure smooth conduct of the State Assembly polls.
The Chief Election Commissioner is also likely to meet leaders of various political parties in the State during his stay here.
It is learnt that the number of polling stations in the forthcoming 9th State Assembly election would be more than the number of the polling stations maintained in the last election with bifurcation of the polling station having more than 1400 voters into
two.
The electoral draft revision would be published on October 16 and the forms for filing complaints against omission of voters' name or new inclusion made be obtained from the offices of the EROs concerned within November 10.The final publication of the electoral roll would be brought out on January 3 next year.
