Imphal, August 04 2009:
After the 48 hours State-wide general strike called in denunciation of the brutal killing of Sanjit by police commandos in a fake encounter, the Working Committee of the Apunba Lup has lined up its next course of agitation.
A press release issued by the Apunba Lup said that torch rallies will be taken out in all localities under the banner "Chief Minister Ibobi, resign on moral, Punish guilty commando personnel" at 8 pm tomorrow.
The Apunba Lup has also made all preparations to launch intense forms of agitation by bringing together different JACs constituted against 'killings in fake encounters', it conveyed.
Stating that it would never negotiate or waver from its stand, the Apunba Lup pledged that it would continue with its movement until and unless the Chief Minister resigns on moral ground and the guilty commandos are punished accordingly.
The Apunba Lup also decried the injuries caused to many people by the excessive actions of police commandos during the 48 hours general strike.
Lauding all those who joined and supported the general strike, it sought continued support towards its future movements.
The Apunba Lup does not believe in any sort of enquiry, it conveyed, while asking whether any one needs any enquiry above the photographs published by Tehelka.
Under such circumstances, any responsible Chief Minister should not be clinging to his /her seat.
The Apunba Lup further questioned the conspicuous silence of the Ministers and MLAs at such a critical situation.
It asked whether the MLAs of Manipur are subordinates of police commandos.
The Chief Minister's statement "there is no other option that to kill" means that any one can be killed without conducting trial, the Apunba Lup inferred while questioning the unconditional approval given by MLAs and Ministers to the same statement.
Because of all these, people are constrained to continue with various forms of agitation, it added.
