Rescued Blue Magpie set free

Imphal, October 24 2011:
Volunteers of People for Animals (PFA), Thoubal yesterday set free a Red Billed Blue Magpie, which had been rescued by one Naorem Babu Singh of Kakching Ningthou Leikai from the clutches of bird catchers.
After PFA, Thoubal Unit was informed about the rescue on October 6, the bird was brought to the shelter home of the Unit where it was kept under medical observation for 18 days as it was physically weak and suffering from Coccidia.
For proper identification of the rescued bird on account of its close resemblance to the National bird of Taiwan, the unit communicated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of Taiwan and Chinese Wild Bird Federation (CWBF)and it was indeed confirmed as Red Billed Blue Magpie.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of China (Taiwan) has reportedly lauded the efforts of PFA Thoubal towards protection and conservation of birds and animals.
