Imphal, January 24 2009: IT HAS been already one and a half month passed today that Sharmila Kanba Lup has been organizing relay hunger strike at the PDA complex, Porompat in support to the eight years old hunger strike agitation taken up by Irom Sharmila to repeal the brutal Act of the Armed Forces Special Power Act 1958.It could be mentioned that volunteers from various part of the state had been taking part in the protest in relay.

Volunteers of Nungsoi and Pungdongbam participated in the relay hunger strike held today.

Resource person, Th Ruhini, a resident of Lamlai speaking on the occasion said that the youths and children of our society fears to step out of their houses due to the imposition of this cruel act of AFSPA in the state.

People fear what may happen just at the adjoining moment once we step out of our houses.

It is evident from the previous incidents that many people are found killed by unidentified gunmen, persons arrested by security forces are also often found killed in what they claim as encounter.

Many incidents of extortion by kidnapping school children are also found in the state.

People often got missing as they went out of their homes.

Considering these facts, we ought to take part in the ongoing relay hunger strike organized by Sharmila Kanba Lup in support to Irom Sharmila, who decided to undertake hunger strike till the repeal of AFSPA from the state.
