Imphal, April 11 2009:
CPI candidate Dr M Nara today expressed wonder when a man (referring to MPP nominee Th Chaoba) who do not know a citizen of India can contest elections anywhere irrespective of his birth place comes out to contest elections with a hope of becoming a Member of Parliament.
Nara said this while speaking at his election rally meetings held at Sagolmang and Awang Khunou today adding that how such a man who could not see Manipur as a whole can be sent as representative of the people to the highest decision making body of the country.
He also observed that it will be better for Choaba to contest as pradhan of Utlou and he will be going to Parliament with the support of the people.
He also said that Th Choaba is speaking on the personal matters of his rival candidates by violating the model code of conduct of election as he knows nothing.
"I am not interesting in clarifying to his statements given while addressing at his election campaign meetings".
Chaoba had talked about his (Nara) involvement in trying to include seven Assembly constituencies of Thoubal district to the Inner seat of the Parliament and making seven constituencies from Bishnupur district to the Outer as he does not know that during delimitation exercise none even the Prime Minister of the country and Chief Minister of a state could intervene.
He also said that people still could not believed that once CPI comes to power, poverty will be eliminated but today people could realized that with the implementation of the NREGS progamme, poor families get jobs for 100 days in a year.
The programme was initiated by the party when, CPI was a partner of the UPA, he revealed.
CPI had tried it best to keep 33 percent seats in the state Assembly and Parliament but due to strong objections from the Samajwadi Party and Congress, it could not be passed in the House of the Parliament till date, he said.
It is sure to form a new government by the third front which CPI is one of the partners without the support of Congress and BJP at Centre.
