Guwahati, November 04 2008:
The Assam police have prepared a sketch of a militant, a fair complexion, well built man below 35 years age, who might have planted the explosive laden car at the campus of the Chief Judicial Magistrate's court (CJM) on Thursday.
Debashis Benerjee, a professional artiste, who is attached to Kolkata police now made the sketch after talking to the victims and some survivors of the Thursday's blasts, who according to police might have seen the militants, said Additional Superintendent of Police, Special Branch (City) Jayshree Khersa.
"The suspect in the sketch is 5 feet and seven inch tall and is of white complexion.
As per Banerjee, he is below 35 years of age," said Khersa while adding that the sketch has matched 77 per cent with the details which were given by the survivors, the victims and some of the eyewitnesses of the blast in the CJM court.
Informing NNN, Khersa said, "Banerjee would be preparing few more sketches of the suspect and we are going to release them very soon.
Today we are releasing the one sketch in all the media including the electronic media.
We are hopeful that this would help taking on the culprits" .
"Normally we accept sketches which are 50 percent similar.
Banerjee's first sketch matched 77 percent.
We take it as a positive move," she said.
"We have spoken to the eyewitnesses too after the sketch was made.
They said that he person looked like the person in the sketch.
One advocate who gave testimony to Banerjee, said that the person was wearing a white kurta-pyjama a few minutes before the blasts.
The person was also talking to another person in a very agitated note," said Khersa while quoting the advocate, who survived the blasts.
The Kolkata based professional artiste, Banerjee has helped the Assam police earlier also.
Banerjee was invited to help the state forest guards last year when poachers had killed several of the one-horned rhinos in the famous Kaziranga National Park.
The forest department sleuths had succeeded in apprehending the poachers last year.
