Jiri students ban truant teachers

Jiribam Higher Secondary School Students' Union has imposed restriction on the entry of four teachers to the school.
In a statement, Finance Secretary of the Students' Union Yurembam Sanjiv informed that the four accused teachers namely W Rebika Devi, Commerce, Maths teacher M Surjit Singh and A Angamba and Sholima Devi of Engineering Drawing have not attended the school for the last many months.
Denouncing truancy and negligence of their duties by these four teachers as a challenge to the student community as a whole, the student body announced its decision of prohibiting the entry of the four teachers in Jiribam Higher Secondary School in future.
The student body has also drawn the attention of the Education Department for taking up necessary legal action against the four teachers.
Furthermore, the student body has cautioned local MLA and Revenue Minister Th Debendra and Education Minister from going back on their assurances of taking up the issue related shortage of teachers in Jiribam Higher Secondary School in the Cabinet meeting.
