RMSA teachers appointed purely on academic merit: CM

The government has been paying special attention so that the Education Department can carry out its duty in free and fair manner, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh has stated, while inaugurating an inducting training programme of the teachers newly appointed under Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) at the Indoor Stadium of National Sports Academy, Khuman Lampak here today.
Speaking as Chief Guest of the function, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh maintained that there was complete transparency in the recent appointment of teachers under RMSA as it was based purely on the academic qualifications of the candidates.
Most of the selected candidates have done their schooling under the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur.
Though the teachers have been appointed under a centrally-sponsored programme, the state government would continue to sponsor them even after the period of sponsorship by the centre, the Chief Minister assured.
The Chief Minister informed that in the proposed appointment of some teachers under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan SSA) too, transparency would be maintained and selection would be done on the basis of academic qualifications from among the candidates have cleared Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) .
He also appealed to all the newly inducted teachers to dedicate themselves in imparting quality education to the students so as to make each of them good citizen.
Principal Secretary in-charge of Education (School) Dr J Suresh Babu presided over today's function, which was also attended by State Project Director of RMSA Sumant Singh as Guest of Honour.
Later in the afternoon, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh also attended a reception function hosted in honour of newly elected ADC members at Council Bhavan, Chingmeirong as Chief Guest.
Speaking at the occasion, the Chief Minister asserted that the government has been trying to ensure the rights of all the people.
In all 10 elected ADC members, 8 from Senapati and 2 from Ukhrul, were accorded warm welcome during the function.
Among them, 8 have been elected uncontested.
All of them have been elected on INC ticket.
MP Thangso Baite, Minister of FCD N Biren, Education Minister DD Thaisii, ADC members and DCs of Senapati and Ukhrul were also present during the reception function.
