Shillong, March 06 2009:
Two minors managed to escape from the clutches of Manipur-based militants here yesterday.
Police said the two children made their escape when the vehicle in which they were made to travel was being fuelled at a petrol pump at Nongthymmai here.
The two minors, identified as Thongam Naoba Singh and T Rakesh Singh, were kidnapped by two PREPAK rebels from Thoubal district of Manipur on Wednesday.
The militants first took the children to Guwahati in a bus.
On reaching Guwahati, they hired a vehicle to travel to Shillong, the sources said.
Police suspect that the two militants wanted to take the minors to Silchar.
They are likely to be handed over to Manipur Police tomorrow.
