The driver of a freight truck kidnapped on ransom demand of Rs 90,000 on NH-39 was released last night after five days of captivity by his abductors suspected to be activists of KCP (MTF).
Dhanbahadur Besnakarma of Bainelipur village of Assam, driver of truck bearing registration number AS01R-6311 had been in the captivity of the activists since October 30 after he was taken away forcibly stopped his vehicle while heading towards Imphal from Dimapur with grocery items.
Later, his abductors demanded Rs 90,000 for his released.
He was released last night around 8 pm at a forest at Bim Parou villager, three kilometer east of Kangpokpi police station in Senapati district.
A highly reliable source said that he secured safe released after negotiated with Rs 20,000.The driver said that he was kept in their custody blindfolded and any kind of torture meted out on him by the abductors.
Meanwhile, a self style captain of the Public Support Group (PSG)/Naga National Workers, a break away group of NSCN(IM) was arrested by troops of 5 Assam Rifles.
He was identified as Phicha (30) son of Punii of Upper Saranamei of Senapati from Karong village of Senapati.
A sum of Rs 2130 was seized from his possession, a police source said.
On the other hand, police registered a case against suspected UKLA, a signatory of the tripartite Suspension of Operation (SoO) in the triggering of a hand grenade at the house of a special contractor Khatkohsei Baite of Langol Housing Complex, Imphal west on Wednesday night at about 7.15 pm.
The country made hand grenade was exploded inside his residential quarter by suspected cadres of UKLA outfit.
In the incident no casualty or damage of property
was reported.
However, the act is amount to which endanger life and property of general public.
