Imphal, March 30 2009: Rahul Gandhi, General Secretary, All India Congress Committee will visit the state on April 2 in connection with the election campaign for the two Congress candidates, sitting MP, Dr T Meinya and Thangso Baite.

With the visit schedule of the star of the Congress elections campaign fixed on April 2, a team of personnel of the National Security Guard (NSG) have arrived at Imphal with necessary equipments in advance for the security coverage.

The NSGs have reported to the additional DGP (ops), a high level police source said.

However, the source refused to disclosed the number of days which Rahul Gandhi will stay in the state capital and the places where the election rally of the party which he will address the election rally of the party.

Prime Minister, who is recovering from his by-pass heart surgery will visit the state in connection with the election campaign is also yet not confirmed.

However, source said that congress Supremo Sonia Gandhi is scheduled to visit the state for a brief period of one hour for the election campaign of the two candidates of the party, Dr Thokchom Meinya of the Iner seat and Thangso Baite for the outer seat.
