Homage paid to Malom massacre victims

Floral tributes were paid and candles lit in memory of the 10 civilians who were killed in indiscriminate firing of security personnel following a bomb attack by unidentified armed persons on this day in 2000 at Malom during a commemorative function today.
The family members of the victims led the people in offering floral tributes and lighting candles at the memorial of the slain civilians erected at Malom under Imphal West district.
The 10 civilians, who lost their lives in the indiscriminate firing of the security personnel were L Sana Devi of Kabowwakching, G Babu Sharma of Leirenjam, O Sanayaima of Nambol Naorem, K Bijoy of Leimapokpam, A Raghumani of Nambol Naorem, S Robinson, Ksh Inaocha, T Shantikumar, S Prakash and S Chandramani, all from Malom.
The victims were waiting for bus in shed when the unfortunate incident took place.

Ksh Subadani, mother of late Ksh Inaocha, recalled that her son was very dutiful and used to supplement the income of the family.
Subadani said that she is yet to come in term with the loss of her son.
She also informed that father of Inaocha passed away within two years of Malom incident unable to bear the pang of separation from his beloved son.
S Boicha, who lost both his younger brother Robinson and elder brother Chandramani, in the same Malom incident, informed that Chandramani was a recipient of National Bravery Award while Robinson was a government school teacher.
The post of Robinson should have been given to one of the family members.
But it never happened, Boicha lamented.
It may be noted here that the JAC formed in the aftermath of Malom incident had filed a petition in the court praying for giving compensation to the bereaved families and the case is still pending.
