Manipur Governor and Chief Minister today greeted the people of the state in general and Kuki-Chin-Mizo brethren in particular on the joyous occasion of Kut festival.
Governor Gurbachan Jagat in his message said, "The festival will be celebrated in its true spirit and will reaffirm our resolve to strengthen peaceful co-existence among various ethnic groups, which is an age-old glorious tradition of the people of the state".
The Kut festival symbolizes compassion, gaiety and gratefulness.
It is a thanks-giving to God for a bountiful harvest, setting aside the barriers of all castes, creeds and religions, the festival provides a good platform to every human being to make a sincere retrospection of his own though and values, Governor stated in his message.
Chief Minister, O Ibobi while greeting the people especially Kuki-Chin-Mizo group celebrating the festival "Kut", the post harvest festival is a thanksgiving feast with songs and dance in honour of God for bountiful harvest.
"While extending my heartiest greeting and best wishes to all on the occasion, I also hope and pray that the festival bring peace and prosperity to all people of the state," the Chief Minister in his message stated expressing that the celebration of the festival in its true spirit and promote harmony, happiness and integration in the society.
MP from the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency, Thangso Baite also greeted the people on the occasion and expressed hope that the festival will bring peace, brotherhood and tranquility in the state.
MP from the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency, Dr T Meinya also greeted the people on the occasion.
