A STATE level open Old Meetei Scripts and Language Competition which compete on writing 100 sentences on the subject was organized by the Meetei Erol Eyek Loinasinlon Apunba Lup (MEELAL) was held at SCERT Diet Centre, DM College campus today.
The competition was held with the objective of enabling recollection Meeteilon used by the forefathers and which the present generation are apparently forget, said the president of the MEELAL, Ngasebpam Yumjao speaking on the occasion.
It also aimed at giving a chance to the students of today to know the old language and remain in their mind forever, he added.
In today's competition, around 200 students, teachers and other dignitaries attended.
However, due to the sudden imposition of general strike in Thoubal district around 50 students and teachers could not participated in the competition.
The president of the organizing body have also expressed dissatisfied over the matter.
Among other, the competition was attended by students studying in Standard-III and the results will be declared on May 10 and prizes will be given to the position holders on May 18 which the Meetei Mayek script was enforced, according to the organizers.
