AGED OLD retired Manipur government employees marched a rally Monday on the streets in Imphal braving the cold of the winter pressing the state government to clear TA/DA for 174 months payable to them by the government.
Around 250 retired government employees enjoying pensions took part in the rally which kicked from Palace compound and concluded at the same place after marching along the New Chekon road upto Minuthong.
They braved the foggy cold weather of the day, the state is experiencing.

Imphal is experiencing cold weather with temperature below 22 degree Celsius in the day time and below six degree Celsius in the morning.
According to the weather report recorded at the Imphal Airport today, the mercury level dropped as low as up to 6 degree Celsius in the early hour of the day while it raises upto 22 degree Celsius at 2.30 pm.
A meeting was also held at the concluding part of the rally in which leaders of the All Manipur Pensioners Welfare Union lamented government attitude towards the pensioners by not responding even thought they have been pressing with democratic forms of agitation by staging sit-in protest since the last around 20 days.
Pensioners under the banner of the AMPU has been carrying out sit-in protest at various part of the state since the first week of this month urging the government to release 50 percent general provident funds (GPF) for 44 months, clearance of arrear for 174 months and to avail them the benefits under the recommendation of the 6th Pay Commission.
"Don't forfeit rights of aged pensioners," said a pensioner participating in the rally today who is highly disappointed on the government alleged neglect attitudes towards yesteryears' government servant.
"Is government thinking that these old people have no use and nothing could be done while delaying in fulfilling our demand.
We are not satisfied with this attitude of discriminating the aged old people," he lamented.
They have been have been demanding release of GP fund and clearance of TA/DA since 2006.But still government is remaining in deaf without consideration the grievances facing by the pensioners, pensioners said.
