Imphal, April 09 2011: A police constable was arrested for allegedly threatening a woman by firing his service gun in the air last night.

His service weapon, 9 mm pistol (Norinko) loaded with two live rounds and an empty case, has been seized, police said.

Imphal police station arrested the constable, Ningthoujam Inaomacha Singh (constable no 861218) son of late Joykumar of Uripok Pollem, on the charged of threatening Ayekpam Binodini Devi (60) wife of late Narayan, a resident of Uripok Tourangbam Leikai last night.

He fired some rounds from his service gun at the house of Binodini where Inaotomba stay at a rented room last night at 10.50 pm, causing panic to the family of the woman as well as to the locality.

Sources said that Inaotomba fired the gun after drunk when Binodini asked him not to indulge in immoral activities.

Inaomacha is currently posting at Heirangoithong out post of Singjamei PS, Imphal West and was arrested around 11.20 pm last night, the police report said.
