As part of the Army's continuing endeavour to provide succor to the neglected and needy people of the Tipaimukh and Thanion Sub-Divisions of Churachandpur district, Manipur, the Commanding Officer of 12 Madras Colonel ASN Rao, inaugurated a water supply scheme executed under MCA program in the remote village of Hrovakot in the Tipaimukh sub Division.
Womenfolk and girls of this remote village had to travel to natural springs as far as 3 to 5 km and wait for an hour to fill just five litres of water.
To alleviate the suffering of the people, 12 Madras undertook water supply project under the Military Civic Action (MCA) program under the aegis of 57 Mountain Division.
The project entailed construction of a large cemented water tank near natural spring source and then connecting it with pipes to other tanks enroute to bring the water to the village.
At a glittering and colourful function the Commanding Officer inaugurated the water supply scheme for which the villagers of Hrovakot thanked 12 Madras for the project and prayed the GOD to grant blessings to all.
