Imphal, April 26 2009:
THE RELAY hunger strike organized by Sharmila Kanba Lup (SKL) with an objective to support and save the live of Irom Sharmila who had been undertaking hunger strike for the past more than 8 years has completed 138 days today.
Around 200 Meirapaibi women of Awang Potsangbam Khullen took part at the hunger strike held today at PDA complex, Porompat.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary of the Awang Potsangbam Khullen Meirapaibi, Ng Memcha said that the state government should repeal the Armed Forces Special Power Act 1958 (AFSPA) as soon as possible as the security forces in the state are killing innocents in pretext of the Act.
Around 121 women volunteers of the Women Welfare Association of Charangpat Mamang Leikai staged at the 81st day of relay hunger strike held at Thoubal district under the supervision of Sharmila Kanba Lup in support to the more than eight years old hunger strike of Irom Sharmila.
Tribal District Co-coordinator of Sharmila Kanba Lup, Mutum Nirmala and Sapam Bimola spoke on the occasion as resource persons said a statement.
