A Fair Price Shop agent has been terminated for non-distribution of 35 kg of rice at its correct price to the ration card holders by not complying with the terms and condition of his appointment as FPS agent.
The Deputy Commissioner, Imphal East District terminated the agent based on the finding that charged him of not complying with the terms and condition he is to abide as FPS agent and as directed by the Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum, Imphal (Consumer Club) on October 17 last, according to a statement of the Human Rights Law Network today.
This was the first time in which a deputy commissioner of a district terminated the FPS agent consequent upon the timely intervention made by the Consumer Court, the statement added.
Consumer Court asked the deputy commissioner to submit a detail report on the alleged charge of non-distribution of rice to the ration card holders at correct scale and price by one FPS agent identified as Naorem Sanjit, FPS agent of polling station no.5/19 of Thongju Assembly constituency on July 30 .
The court asked the DC concern to furnish the detail report in response to the compliant lodged by one Ningombam Gandha of Khongman Zone-V, Imphal East district against the said FPS agent.
The complainant alleged that the said FPS agent failed to distribute 35 kg of rice at its correct price regularly on monthly basis.
The court based on the finding of the inquiry report furnished by the DC which was found true and correct with the complaint and directed the DC to terminate the agent from being an authorized FPS agent, the HRLN statement added.
