Transport minister L Jayentakumar today said that action has been taken against illegal transport of vehicle fuels from Senapati using mini-tata, DI tata and other light vehicles.
The minister informed this in an interaction with this reporter at his office chamber today.
He asserted that transport department noticed that oil tankers are siphoning petrol and diesel at some places in Senapati to be sold to black marketers who transport the items to Imphal using light vehicles and mini-trucks.
The transport department has taken up work for conducting a driveto know the vehicles being used in the transportation of the items and to take up appropriate action against them, he said.
He maintained that the work has been taken up as part of the government drive against illegal hoarding of vehicles fuels taking advantage of the fuel scarcity in the government depots.
With the start of the drive, yesterday 1000 litre of fuel has been seized.
The drive was conducted with the assistance of the police in Senapati district which has informed the matter to the DGP.
Police department has been instructed to intensify the drive against fuel black marketers.
Police are also taking the work sincerely, he added.
