Holding the State Government of Manipur and the Central Government responsible for the killings of Dr Kishan, Y Token and Rajen Sharma, a meeting convened today by the Apunba Lup has demanded the immediate resignation of the Union Home Minister and the State Home Minister from their respective posts.
Among other things, the meeting convened today at the Manipur Press Club hall with the presence of representatives of around twenty civil organisations of the hills and the valley has also decided to face the challenge cohesively while seeking the cooperation of the people towards this end, coordinators of Apunba Lup, A Langdon, K Sunil, Y Rupen and Konsam Phulindro maintained in a statement.
Sternly condemning the killings of Dr Kishan and his staff, the meeting also decisively resolved to strengthen the social harmony amongst the different communities of the state while also cautioning the people to desist from creating fuss in the prevailing situation and not to rely on rumours.
It was also decided during the meeting that another meeting will be convened in the near future and it entrusted the Apunba Lup to convene the meeting at their disposal.
The meeting was attended by representatives of Naga Peoples' Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR), Tangkhul Peoples' Organisation, Imphal, Kuki Women's' Union, Kabui Mothers' Association, All Manipur Tribal Women's Union, Manipur, Kasom Khullen Sub Division Development Association, Zeliangrong Union, Imphal Zone, NIPCO, HERICOUN, AMUCO, IPSA, UPF, CLK, COHR, HRI, MAPI COUNCIL, Workers' Union, Manipur, Poirei Leimarol Manipur, AMWOVA.
