Imphal, January 21 2010:
Brushing out the headache of tourists to Myanmar in seeking passport and visa at Kolkata, tourists can now obtain visa from emigrant offices at Moreh in Manipur (India) and Tamu in Myanmar thanks to the efforts of the Manipur government.
This would pave establishment of cordial relation between India and Myanmar through the Indo-Myanmar Fraternal Alliance.

The programme was also attended by state Transport Minister, L Jayentakumar and Tourism Minister, TN Haokip.

Few years back, tourists can intrude on the territory of Myanmar from Manipur without any document.
But the same was banned in 2005 .
Since then, tourists have trouble in getting their passport and visa to Myanmar at Kolkata.
But the efforts of the Manipur government pays dividend as tourists can now obtain visa from emigrant offices at Moreh and Tamu.

Getting trade items from China, Thailand, Cambodia, etc through Myanmar would be easier for Manipur.

Speaking on the occasion, Transport Minister, L Jayentakumar observed that the Indo-Myanmar Fraternal Alliance had shown various tourist spots of Myanmar to some people of the state.
He expressed his desire that Myanmar citizens be shown the tourist spots of the state.
In order to fulfill this, the Transport and Tourism Departments have initiated a plan to construct the Indo-Myanmar road under Look East Policy, He said.
