Ch Jamini, chairperson of the Manipur Women Commission today reacting to the used of women garments like Phanek and inner wears has commented that its amount to disrespect of things use by the women themselves.
She made the comment during a visit to the house of the decease Rabina at Lamshang Lamdeng Bazar and meeting with the members of the Joint Action Committee formed in connection with the dead of Rabina in an indiscriminating firing by the police commandos at Khwairamband Bazar on July 23 last.
Jamimi further asked "While we do not respect out clothing who will respect the decency of women of our society" and appealed the gathering women to stop such kind of protest of stretching women garments and inner wears on the road in the bid to block the road.
A team of the women commission led by chairperson Dr Ch Jamini comprising its members, Lhingjaneng Gangte and Lhingjaneng Gangte today met with the family of the deceased Rabina and members of the Joint Action Committee formed in connection with the dead of Rabina at the house of the deceased Thokchom Rabina at Lamshang Lamdeng Bazar in Imphal west.
Talking to the members of the family of Rabina and JAC, the chairperson said that the commission was informed of dead of young pregnant Rabina in the July 23 firing incident at Khwairamband Bazar not sooner had the incident occurred.
But a team of the commission rushing the spot was prevented from site inspection.
But, considering that the duty of the commission is to find the fact of the incident, they recommended the government to find the fact of the incident and the commission will try its best to know the fact of the incident.
The commission will study the report of judicial inquiry to be instituted by the government and will take up necessary action.
In the meeting, president of the JAC formed in connection with the killing of the Rabina, Nongleima said that when Rabina was lying dead at the spot, movement of child inside the womb was seen on her belly.
Despite this none including the police did not try to evacuate Rabina to the hospital.
If police happened to evacuate her immediately to the hospital and necessary operation was formed, the fetus child could have save, Nongleima said.
Apart from this, she added police had not kept any respect to the dead body of the woman and threw the dead body in their vehicle.
If they respect the body, they would have covered it with a cloth at least.
Jamini convinced the gathering saying that instead of blaming the pass incident, instead press the authorities to do the needful.
Later, Jamini handed over Rs 2000 to the husband of the deceased Rabina while member Lhingjaneng handed over a traditional shawl and expressed shared to the sorrow of the family.
