AR to construct bridge on Chamu river

Imphal, August 19 2010: In an endeavour to improve the infrastructure and connectivity in Ukhrul district and keeping its commitment as "Friends of the Hill People", the Assam Rifles have taken up the responsibility of construction of bridge over river Chamu Turel in Chingai sub division.

The bridge is being constructed under the BADP programme by the Assam Rifles.

The construction of the bridge will enhance the connectivity of the remote villages in Chingai sub division of Ukhrul District with the NH-150 .

It was only after the initiative and persistent efforts of Assam Rifles that the construction of the bridge is now likely to start soon.

This project with the efforts of Assam Rifles unit of 10 Sector at Ukhrul under the aegis IGAR(S) has crossed its teething stages with the location, concept, design and type already approved, and the final construction at the site and launching process initiated.

The completion of the project will go a long way in spearheading development in the area in times of come.
