Police have arrested two activists of KCP(MC) including a woman allegedly involved in extortion activities even as militants continued targeting hospitals and private residents for allegedly in connection with non-payment of their monetary demands.
Miscreants suspected to be militants hurled a hand grenade at the Shanti Hospital at Sanakeithel under Lamphel police station in Imphal west last night which failed to explode and also fire several rounds of guns at the house of another individual at Samaram, a village in Imphal east district.
Two activists of the KCP(MC) including a woman identified as Leikangbam Ranjana Devi (25) wife of L Tokyo Singh of Chalou Awang Leikai of Imphal east district were apprehended by a team of Imphal east district police commandos yesterday at around 4.30 pm from Khurai Lamlong Bazar, a statement of the Imphal east SP, Th Radheshyam informed today.
The other one was identified as Moirangthem Naoba Singh (25) son of M Ibocha of Nongada Awang Leikai in Imphal east district.
He was apprehended by a combined team of Imphal east police commandos and troops of 23 Assam Rifles from his locality yesterday at around 6 pm.
On verification the apprehended woman, police came to know that she joined the outfit in the month of February this year and involved in extortion of money from general public, government officials, businessmen, etc.

It further said at the time of rounding up the other male activist of the same outfit Ibocha, five rounds of AK-47 ammunitions were seized.
He also joined the outfit in February this year.
Meanwhile, militants have conducted failed attack with a hand grenade at the Shanti Hospital at Lamphel Sanakeithel last night at around 10.10 pm.
The bomb however failed to explode.
Later, a police commando team seized the same.
Yet, militants also fired some rounds of guns at the house of one Thongam Laishang at Samaram Mayai Leikai under Lamlai police station in Imphal east district.
Police suspect the attack related with monetary demand.
Police today found an unexploded bomb at the premise of the individual this morning which left out in the attack conducted at around 9.30 last night.
The same was disposed off at an open place.
