The Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) and the Hmar Students' Association (HSA), Churachandpur district have expressed despondency over the 'conspiracy' on the withdrawal of a huge amount of development funds of MSDP (MOBC) by certain hill underground group in collaboration with several officials of the UBI Churachandpur Branch.
A joint statement of the two students' bodies signed by Paokai Haokip, president of KSO, Lamminlun Gangte, secretary, KSO and Joseph Hmar, general secretary of HSA expressed shock over the attitude and manner by which one umbrella students' organisation of Churachandpur tried to divert people's attention and caused confusion to the public in general by raising irrelevant question and ignoring the track of the main culprits.
"It is also inequitable on the part of the aforesaid umbrella students' organisation by wrongly dragging and raising the accusing finders on the DRDA, Churachandpur.
This for a reason has put a question mark on the role and status of such organisation which was formed to bring various students' organisations together to resolve the differences in this multiethnic set up of the society," the joint statement observed.
While appreciating the state Government in showing utmost seriousness and arresting the officials involved, the two students' bodies urged the authorities concerned to book the main culprits at the earliest.
The joint statement supposed that the police and the authority concerned must have known the main culprits after retrieving 50% of the looted funds.
Further, the statement condemned the staffs of the a nationalised bank like UBI being a part of the blatant party in looting the public development fund mean for the right beneficiaries of its own trustee.
The statement further expressed apprehensiveness if the account of an individual be safe if this kind of forgery could be done at times.
It therefore requested the authorities concerned to set up another nationalised bank in safer place in the District.
Lastly, the two students' bodies demanded strict punishment to the looters of the public money as per of the rule of the Government.
The statement added, any propaganda to divert the attention from the real culprits must be condemned by one all in order that such diversion and looting of public development fund mean for the real beneficiaries will not occur in future and to ensure that Government schemes and project be implemented in the right direction.
It further appealed to public to be alert in any Government scheme and project being taken
in future.
