Media campaign on Mid-Day Meal aiming at to aware the people on the scheme more details launched by the state education department flagged off by state education commissioner, PK Singh.
The launching function held at the conference hall of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) office at Bapupara was apart from education commissioner as chief guest also attended by SSA mission director, Dr Prem as president additional director Hareshor Goshami as guest of honour among others.
The chief guest released the poster and CD disc which would be part of the media campaign.
Speaking to the gathering, PK Singh said the mid-day meal scheme which gives nutrient support to the students studying in primary schools is a "noble" scheme and it is a must to aware on the scheme to the people for achieving the objective of the scheme.
He further talking on the implementation of the scheme said that as per directive of the Union Human Resources Development Ministry, the rice supply to the schools will be done through the deputy commissioners of the district concerns who will collect the rice from the FCS.
State government has also proposed for hiking the kitchen construction charge from Rs 30,000 to Rs 1 lakh apart from taking up works for providing require materials of the kitchen immediately on demand.
Salaries of the cooks will also disburse through the bank accounts, he added.
The department is also planning to constitute vigilance committee with pradhan and local club members as members to monitor reaching of the mid-day meal items to the respective schools.
A control room will also be opened so that people can lodge complaint when there is any doubt of misappropriation in the implementation of the scheme and department could take action to those culprits involved in the misappropriation in the implementation of the scheme.
Additional director, Hareshwor Goshwami talking as guest honour said that the mid-day meal which aimed at nutrient support to the students of poor families was launched in 1995 to the elementary schools run under the education department.
The media campaign launched today aimed awareness to the people on the scheme and to make students attend school regularly and giving nutrient support to the students so that the objective of the scheme is fulfilled.
