Imphal, May 27 2011:
MPCC chief, Gaikhangam, today called for making Manipur a land where people of both the hills and the valley co-exist in harmony by sharing each other's help and understanding at times of woes.
He said this while speaking at a flagship training programme of the Congress held at Litan Sareikhong in Ukhrul district.
Attending the inaugural function of the programme as chief guest, MPCC president said that Congress as a political party is working at its best for the welfare of the people irrespective of valley areas or hill areas and for bringing a balanced development.
"Let us make a society where there is no hatred among the different communities settled together in the state since time immemorial," he said.
Regarding the loss of the Congress candidates in three constituencies in Ukhrul district in the 2007 Assembly election, the MPCC chief said that it was not a clear mandate of people but resulted due to instigations of some vested interests.
Commerce and Industries minister, Y Erabot, who also took part at the inaugural function, said that the Congress has worked tirelessly for the welfare of the people.
The party stands against those voices who wish to break the integrity of Manipur.
Many other leaders of the party also attended the flagship training programme organized by the Youth Congress as part of its training series across the state.
