Imphal, August 19 2010:
A former KNA cadre kidnapped by armed militants was found killed at the bank of the Tuinengba river under Jiribam police station today morning.
The victim Tonglal Singjou (44) son of Phaokhadou Singjou of Motbung village of Tousem sub-division of Tamenglong district was kidnapped by two gunmen yesterday evening, around 8 pm, from his home.
Police retrieved the dead body from the river bank today morning.
The dead body received two bullet injury marks, one at the abdomen and another at the right thigh and both hands were tied at his back with a rope.
Police also recovered two empty cases of 9 mm ammunition.
Reports quoting family source said that he was a former cadre of the KNA, now retired and survived by his wife and a son.
The family is yet to know the motive behind the murder of Tonglal.
After postmortem at the Jiribam Community Health Centre, police handed over the dead body to the family.
In another case the identity of one of the two suspected underground cadres killed by a team of Thoubal police commandos on the night of August 17 at Sarik Konjil under Waikhong police of Thoubal District, was established today as Moirangthem Tombi (56) son of late Ningthou of Sarik Konjil Lariok Ching.
After postmortem at RIMS morgue, the dead body was handed over to the family today.
