Meira Paibee, a play based on the life and struggle of Irom Sharmila and the Manipuri womenfolk's agitation against the controversial Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act will reach the State soon.
Composed by a Malayali theatre group and directed by Civic Chandran, the play is currently being staged across the country since then it was first shown in Trichur, the home constituency of Union Home Minister AK Anthony on March 16, informed Sharmila's brother, Irom Singhajit while talking to The Sangai Express.
The troupe is likely to reach Imphal on April 16 or 17, he added.
"Besides staging the play at some areas in the State, there will be a panel discussion on the current chaotic situation besetting Manipur and the people's movement against the military act," Singhajit, Managing Trustee of the Just Peace Foundation said.
Meanwhile, a team of human rights activists from different States joined the ongoing womenfolk's relay hunger strike in solidarity to Sharmila's campaign against AFSPA today.
The rights activists belonging to Yusuf Meheralli Yuva Biradari (Mumbai), Indian Solidarity Committee for Freedom Democracy and Human Rights (Kerala) and Rashtra Seva Dal (Pune), also yesterday met Sharmila at the security ward of Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital where she is being forced-fed by the Government.
