5th Critical Mass held

In a move to have bicycle lanes in Imphal, the Manipur Cycle Club(MCC) held its Fifth Critical Mass today.
The Critical Mass, a gathering of cycle enthusiasts conducts a cycle ride around city areas starting from the Paona International market at Keishampat junction around 3 pm.
This year, the ride passed through a section of the Imphal-airport road before diverting towards Sayang road via Kwakeithel bazar.
After crossing Naoremthong bridge, it took the Uripok-Kangchup road for a few minutes and diverted towards Sagolband Bijoygobinda and converged at the juice junction of Nahakpan food and beverages popularly known as 'Boss juice' at Sagolband for a brief gathering.
It was a crowd puller since the state is facing a scarcity of fuel resulting from the blockades on the NHs.
MCC is a club for those who used cycles and supports the cycle movment in Manipur.
Use of cycles reduces congestion, air and noise pollution, reduce carbon footprint in addition to the health benefits, said a member of MCC.The club has been set up to create an awareness about the utility of cycling to the public.
The state government should initiate measures to establish cycle lanes in the major roads of the city, he said.
