Imphal, May 27 2011:
Citing that the launching of NPF's Manipur unit is a part of various strategies to break the territorial integrity of Manipur, the United Committee Manipur (UCM) today announced a boycott of the visit of Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.
The UCM has called a 13-hour statewide bandh tomorrow which would be effective from 5 am to 6 pm.
UCM president Yumnamcha Dilipkumar said, if the Nagaland CM was on a normal visit, the UCM would have been extended a warm welcome but as there is a hidden agenda behind his visit, therefore the UCM has decided to boycott him and his entourage.
He asserted, the visit is part of the NSCN-IM strategy to disintegrate Manipur.
The Nagaland CM's proposed visit to Senapati comes at a time when the state is preparing to observe the June 2011 uprising and visit will tantamount to instigate and heighten tension among the communities in the state.
Knowing the sentiment of the people of the state, the Centre as well as the state government should intervene and stop Neiphiu Rio's visit to the state, he insisted.
Commenting on the unclear stand of the state government on the scheduled tripartite talks between the state, the Centre and the UNC, Dilipkumar said the UCM is closely examining the talks schedule to be held at Senapati on May 30 .
The tripartite talks had been held for two times and the proposed talks on May 30 would be the third one.
The first was held on September 21, 2010 in New Delhi while the second one was held on December 3, 2010 at Senapati district HQs.
In the talks, three ministers of the state are to be part of the state's representatives.
UCM does not take the proposed talks lightly and considers the participation of state representatives as against the wishes of the people.
It would be better for the state government to review its participation in the talks, he observed.
